STEVE CAMINATI

Steve’s work and reputation in Columbus has positioned him as one of the leading young and up-and-comers around Capitol Square. His reputation for consensus building, inclusiveness and trust has allowed him to gain respect on both sides of the political aisle. Steve’s expertise includes public policy and strategy development, policy implementation, message development, budgeting, grassroots outreach and campaign management.
Steve successfully chaired the 2008 state Issue 2, continuation of the Clean Ohio Fund campaign, which passed with 69% support and in all 88 Ohio counties. There, he had oversight of the campaign consultants and daily operations, oversight of the budget, message development, fundraising, grassroots and media relations. His experience also includes passage of The Great Lakes Compact in Ohio and work on Governor Strickland’s energy bill, the state’s operating budget, Ohio EPA rule development and healthcare policy.
Prior to joining Melamed Communications, Steve worked for The Nature Conservancy, where he directed all state public policy. He has also worked in the Ohio General Assembly and as an aide for the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. A graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and the University of Akron with a Master in Public Administration (MPA), Steve currently serves on the board for the Ohio League of Conservation Voters and is a member of Mayor Michael Coleman’s Columbus Green Team.
